Overview
Before being acquired, ATOMIZED was a visual content calendar for marketing teams. Originally launched as an enterprise SaaS product, reimagined for VisionOS.
THE Problem
(2018) The marketing industry has grown increasingly complex, with an abundance of channels and rising demands for faster asset delivery. Marketers often find themselves working in isolation, disconnected from one another and the overarching strategy. To truly maximize their impact, they need to collaborate in a visual, unified space.
MY Process
- Conducted product-market fit interviews with marketing teams at major brands
- Mapped pain points, personas, and problem statements and developed initial feature list, wireframes, and user flows
- Recruited development team to build/launch MVP
- Created pitches, presentations, brand elements, and a multichannel marketing campaign
- Built teams and systems for onboarding, training, and supporting more than 185 enterprise accounts
- Iterated the app based on customer feedback and eventually exited the company to a competitor
The Outcome
Atomized achieved significant success as a SaaS platform, securing over 180 customers, including several high-profile brands, and integrating with more than 450 tools and services to enhance workflow efficiency for marketing teams. The platform’s unique approach to managing visual elements, supported by the granting of a patent for “Systems and Methods for Managing Related Visual Elements,” helped position Atomized as an industry leader in visual asset management and collaboration.
This innovation, combined with its seamless integrations, drove strong customer adoption and retention, contributing to Atomized’s rapid growth in a competitive market. The platform became an essential tool for marketing teams looking to centralize and streamline their content planning processes.
Atomized’s success attracted attention from industry leaders, ultimately leading to its acquisition by Opal Labs. The acquisition was a strategic fit, allowing Opal to leverage Atomized’s technology and customer base to further expand its own offerings in the marketing collaboration space.
