Overview
Robbie AI was designed to help nurses and ER staff detect and prevent falls in care facilities like nursing homes and hospitals. By utilizing real-time data from patient movement and behavior patterns, the AI predicts high-risk situations before they occur. The tool alerts staff when immediate intervention is needed, allowing them to respond quickly and prevent potential falls. Development required close collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure the system was both highly accurate and easy to use within the fast-paced environment of hospitals and care facilities. Robbie AI came to me to refresh the original UI, add a reporting feature, evolve the iconography, and to completely redesign their logo and marketing materials.
THE Problem
Care teams needed a way to review and share historical patient monitoring data in order to extract valuable business insights like the number of incidents avoided, total patient visits, average response times, and more.
MY Process
- Understood the Current Vision: Reviewed the app’s goals, customer profiles, and analyzed the current user experience.
- Validated the Need for the New Feature: Reviewed user feedback documents, assessed current pain points, and confirmed the value of the redesigned feature.
- Developed a Feature Strategy: Identified the core functionality of the feature and ensured alignment with the overall app flow.
- Designed the New UX/UI: Created wireframes and prototypes that integrated seamlessly with the current interface, refining color palettes and layout to reflect Material UI standards, as well as adding new iconography to display high-risk designation.
- Collaborated with Development: Worked with developers to ensure smooth integration of the feature within the existing Figma design system.
- Revamped the company logo, brand elements, presentation decks, and marketing collateral.
The Outcome
The design refresh, iconography, and reporting feature resulted in a more intuitive, user-friendly experience for healthcare professionals working in fast-paced environments.
The addition of a reporting feature gives administrators access to actionable insights, such as trends in incident prevention, patient monitoring patterns, and response times. This empowers leadership to make data-driven decisions, improve operational efficiency, and optimize staff allocation based on real-time needs.
The visual overhaul of the brand, including a new logo and updated marketing materials, significantly enhanced the app’s market positioning, better communicating its cutting-edge technology and reliability to potential clients. Overall, the redesign laid the foundation for increased adoption in hospitals and care facilities, supporting Robbie AI’s mission of improving patient care and safety.
